One of the very best re-interpretations of Carole King's fabulous It's Too Late came from the Quartz duo of Dave Rawlings and Ronnie Herel. Seems they named themselves after the Technic Quartz decks they employed when mixing. Back in the heady days of the UK Streetsoul scene this was one of the great but little known releases. However, they found themselves remixed and outclassed by DMC who created a much superior version. Vocalist Dina Carroll was on top form when this was recorded and the DMC remix is undoubtedly top draw for the dance floor. Nearly a quarter of a century later this still feels like contemporary propa modern. You can hear it on the youtube link below. Do take note: this is the DMC remix as someone has also wrongly posted the original Quartz mix as the DMC remix.
You may still be able to find it on A DMC CD single Mercury – ITMCD 4, Mercury – 868 471-2. It was a UK 1991release.
