Antonia Jenae – Purple Haze (2005)

Some recordings are difficult to define. Purple Haze by Antonia Jenae is one such recording with it’s darkly brooding theme. It's not the Jimi Hendrix song of the same title but one from Jenae's own pen. A singer/songwriter she made her career start as backing singer for Joss Stone but Jenae has also worked with Raphael Saddiq and Choklate. She is originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Her album Medicinal Purposes (FMP) was released back in 2005 and is a diverse mix of Neo Soul, Soul, Funk and R&B. This down tempo shuffler is very much in psychedelic vibe zone territory mood wise but Jenae performs it without losing sight of soulfulness. (Click on the album pic to hear the song).

"A sexy blend of Funk, Jazz and Soul that will medicate your soul...for those times when the rainbow ain't enough..."
Available from CD Baby as downloads or from Amazon as CD.
