Ledisi - Mine (2014)

Louisiana born Soul/Jazz singer and actress Ledisi's latest album release is her seventh. The Truth is an absolute cracker. Released last year it earned a lot of critical acclaim and justly so. It is a fabulous collection of 'choons' to woo Soul lovers. Top track for me has to be Mine which is the very best of some excellent tracks. Stylistically she has successfully attempted to mate Soul in a jazz/hip hop setting. This innovation is evident in all her works. Bearing in mind her illustrious musical pedigree it's hardly surprising she is such a musical talent. Her grandfather was the Blue Singer Johnny Ace and her biological father the Soul singer, Larry Sanders. Her mother at one time sang in a local R&B band whilst her stepfather was a jazz drummer. Now how's that for a musical family and pedigree?
