Hi to all Propa Modern Soul lovers everywhere

'Propa Modern' Soul is a blanket term for music from the first two decades of this century but also including recordings from the 1990s. This differentiates it from the UK Modern Soul scene that developed from the UK Northern Soul scene playing the then current sounds of the 70s and early 80s. Although I do like 70s recordings they are hardly ‘modern’ in the accepted sense of the word. Even so some ‘Propa Modern’ recordings from 1990 are now 25 years old so they are not exactly current or contemporary either.

Not tied by the dictates of UK Modern Soul dj’s the mix that makes up Propa Modern Soul sounds is much more varied encompassing almost every sub-genre and derivative of Soul including contemporary R&B, Hip Hop, Neo Soul, Smooth Jazz, Acid Jazz Soul, Latin Soul to more mainstream Southern Soul. Literally, there are few boundaries, as some of the sounds mentioned here will prove.

Each week we will post a selection of the best contemporary Soul recordings from the first two decades of the 21st Century with occasional retro track from the 90s.  But do note: the only links on this blog are to legitimate sites and there are no download links whatsoever. If you want to know how good the music is then follow the links to sites like youtube, Vimeo, Discogs etc., that will be provided. You will not only be able to sample the performers in action but you will also understand why we picked this excellent music.

If you are a dj who wants to give the public great Propa Modern Soul then keep coming back. The guarantee is you will find simply the best here. If you just love listening to great contemporary Soul music in all its guises then you will hit gold more times than you can imagine.
