Ebony Evans - Loving You Is All I Wanna Do (2006)

Sunny morning needs a sunny tune to put the sparkle into life. Time for a little of that ole skool Soul sound that might make traditionalist Northern Soulers wince. It might even give some of us 'Propa Modern' Soulers a shake up too because Loving You Is All I Wanna Do by Ebony Evans is distinctly retro flava. Since EE has her own blog I am not going to go into her bio. No point in doing a rewrite what's already there so if you want to know more there's a link at the end.

I think it's fantastic when a young talent can find her musical roots in the past and acknowledge it by making such a superb recording. There's no reason why both sides of the Northern Soul divide cannot enjoy a generational crossover re-interpretation like this one. Melodic, rhythmic and perfect for the dance floor. What more could anyone want?

For those who think they recognise the song well you would  be correct to think you did.

Tearra did the original version (Just Loving You) back in the 70s. So give the original a listen to compare just how stylistically different they are.

Very different interpretations with Ebony Evans putting her own stamp on the song which is as it should be.  If you can enjoy both without old skool prejudice then you are definitely a 'Propa Modern Souler' not some Arnold  faking it.*

The EE version is taken from her 2006 album 'Luv's Fire' which was a must for my collection. If you're quick you will probably find a CD copy of it from the usual sources. But I wouldn't recommend leaving it until later. Copies will disappear and prices for rare CDs can rise steeply.
